Hello. This time, marking the one-year anniversary of starting this column, I would like to focus on the “visualization” of hydrogen. I will introduce the “hydrogen meter,” which allows you to numerically confirm exactly how much hydrogen is present.

Since hydrogen is an invisible gas, even with daily use, it can be difficult to determine if hydrogen is actually being generated. Therefore, by utilizing a hydrogen meter that can measure the concentration of hydrogen, you can confirm the concentration of your hydrogen water or hydrogen inhaler and utilize hydrogen appropriately.

For example, the hydrogen concentration of hydrogen water and hydrogen inhalers varies by model. Using a meter allows you to verify whether your device is reliably generating the specified amount of hydrogen.

Recently, while speaking with a resident of Japan about hydrogen, I heard a story that “the hydrogen device they purchased was not emitting any hydrogen at all,” which prompted me to introduce meters for our Japanese customers as well.

Hydrogen devices are sensitive and susceptible to dryness, so depending on the environment or the method of care, they may stop generating the specified amount of hydrogen. Since gas is still being emitted, it can look like hydrogen is being produced, making it impossible to know the actual hydrogen concentration without a meter.

At my salon, we regularly measure the hydrogen output of the equipment we use, and we ensure that we check the normal values with a meter before handing over devices at the point of sale. Furthermore, we reach out to clients who purchased a device more than a year ago, ask them to bring their unit in, and perform a measurement again. If the hydrogen concentration falls below the normal value, we recommend care using a specialized cleaning solution. By making hydrogen “visible,” we strive to ensure that everyone can incorporate it with peace of mind.
