Hydrogen: A Gateway to Health 032 – The Growing Interest in Hydrogen Within the Beauty Industry

Hello everyone. Today, I’d like to introduce “hydrogen,” which has been attracting a lot of attention in the beauty world recently.
Up until now, hydrogen has mainly been discussed for its health benefits, but in recent years, interest in its applications in beauty has been growing rapidly, expanding its range of uses.

At “Beauty World Japan,” one of the largest beauty exhibitions in Japan held recently at Tokyo Big Sight, numerous companies showcasing hydrogen-related devices exhibited, creating quite a buzz. Our Japanese staff also visited the event and came back deeply impressed by the high level of interest in hydrogen. In the medical field, research on hydrogen’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects has been ongoing for over a decade. In recent years, efforts to apply these findings to beauty have gained serious momentum.

It is well known that reactive oxygen species (free radicals) generated in the body due to external factors like UV rays and air pollution, as well as internal factors like stress, damage collagen and elastin — the proteins that maintain skin elasticity — leading to age spots and wrinkles. Hydrogen is believed to selectively neutralize these harmful reactive oxygen species, reducing oxidative stress, and is therefore gaining attention for its potential to help slow skin aging.

Hydrogen inhalation, hydrogen baths, and hydrogen mists are now being introduced in esthetic salons and spas, increasingly used as part of facial care treatments. Additionally, more people are incorporating hydrogen water and hydrogen supplements to improve their skin from the inside out.

At our salon, we often hear surprised and delighted feedback right after hydrogen inhalation, such as “My skin looks so much clearer!” or “My fine lines look plumper and smoother!” Lately, we’ve seen a growing number of customers starting hydrogen therapy specifically for beauty purposes. It really feels like more and more people are steadily incorporating hydrogen into their lives for both health and beauty benefits.

Going forward, hydrogen is sure to gain even more attention as a bridge between beauty and wellness. This spring, why not try adding hydrogen to your routine — not just for external care, but also from within — to aim for healthier, more radiant days? If you’re interested, feel free to incorporate hydrogen in a way that suits your lifestyle.
