What I Couldn’t Cover in the Newspaper Column

In Column No. 8, I touched on the topic of hydrogen water storage and how modern aluminum pouches can retain hydrogen far better than before.

In this blog, I’ll go a step further and explore how hydrogen water can be used in daily “oral care,” and how it pairs surprisingly well with a water flosser. These details couldn’t fit into the original newspaper space.

1. Why Hydrogen Water Works Well for Oral Care

Hydrogen molecules are extremely small, allowing them to reach areas that ordinary substances may not.

This characteristic is one reason hydrogen water is seen as compatible with skin care as well as oral hygiene. In Japan, hydrogen water has even been referenced in some dental wellness settings as a supportive daily care option.

Of course, hydrogen water is not a medical treatment, but as part of daily oral hygiene, its “supportive role” has gained attention.

2. The Role of Platinum Electrodes

In the column, I introduced a hydrogen water generator
co-developed by Professor Nobuhiko Miwa, Professor Emeritus at Hiroshima University.

This generator uses platinum electrodes, which are known for:

• High durability
• Efficient hydrogen generation
• Ability to produce hydrogen-rich water in a stable way

Many users find this type of fresh, well-generated hydrogen water easier to incorporate into oral care.

3. Using Hydrogen Water with a Water Flosser

I personally use hydrogen water in my water flosser (dental jet) as part of my routine.

When I use hydrogen water instead of regular tap water, my mouth feels noticeably cleaner and fresher.

I especially like using it during:

• Morning oral care
• Evening wind-down routine
• Days when I feel tired after work or treatments

While it’s not a medical procedure, many people appreciate having an additional at-home care option that’s easy to integrate into daily life.

4. Hydrogen Water “On the Go”—Even Overseas

Some clients bring hydrogen water from Japan to New York in special aluminum pouches designed to retain hydrogen.

One client told me how amazed they were to be able to drink fresh hydrogen water even in their New York hotel room. They also enjoyed taking it to the gym, or using it as post-workout hydration after yoga.

Hydrogen water is gradually becoming something that
people want to enjoy anywhere—home, gym, or while traveling.
