What I Couldn’t Fully Cover in the Column
In the previous blog (23-1), we discussed why hydrogen has been attracting attention in medical research.
In this section, I would like to introduce examples of collaborative research projects that are currently being explored.
Collaboration with The Texas Heart Institute®
In July 2024, the hydrogen inhalation device introduced at my salon entered into a collaborative research agreement with The Texas Heart Institute® (THI).
This collaboration began after THI expressed interest in exploring the potential use of hydrogen in organ transplantation research.
Organ transplantation is a highly specialized medical field, and the research is currently at an experimental stage.
However, the fact that hydrogen is being considered within such research contexts illustrates the growing scientific interest in this molecule.
Research Conducted in Japanese Universities
In Japan, hydrogen-related research has been conducted at several universities.
For example, Keio University School of Medicine has participated in collaborative research projects, and multiple academic papers have been published based on these studies.
University research plays an important role in expanding scientific understanding of hydrogen and its possible applications.
Clinical Research at Yamaguchi University
In addition, a clinical study began in January 2025 at Yamaguchi University, focusing on patients undergoing dialysis treatment.
The goal of this research is to explore how hydrogen might interact with physiological conditions in dialysis patients. Clinical studies require careful evaluation, and their outcomes will become clearer as research progresses.

As more studies are conducted, our understanding of hydrogen and its potential roles in health science will likely continue to grow.
