What I Couldn’t Fully Cover in the Column
In Episode 13 of the newspaper column, I touched on the potential relationship between hydrogen, stress relief, and psychological well-being.
In this blog, I’d like to begin by exploring why stress and emotional discomfort are closely connected to physical condition, and why hydrogen has drawn attention from this perspective—using everyday language and lived experience.

Stress Is Not Only a Mental Issue
Stress is often thought of as something that exists only in the mind—a matter of attitude or resilience.
In reality, however, stress is deeply connected to what is happening inside the body.
When busy schedules and prolonged tension continue, oxidative stress may increase and the autonomic nervous system can lose its natural balance.
As a result, people may experience:
- A lingering sense of restlessness
- Difficulty fully relaxing
- Feeling tired even after resting
These sensations often arise quietly, without a clear emotional trigger.

The Importance of the Parasympathetic Nervous System
Emotional stability depends greatly on whether the parasympathetic nervous system can function properly.
When this system becomes dominant:
- Breathing deepens
- Heart rate slows
- Both body and mind recognize that it is safe to rest
This state allows stress to ease and recovery to begin.
Hydrogen has gained attention as a possible way to help support an internal environment where relaxation becomes easier, rather than something that must be forced.

Why Hydrogen Is Being Discussed
Hydrogen has been studied in relation to oxidative stress in the body.
From this viewpoint, it is sometimes described as a supportive presence that may help prevent the nervous system from remaining in an overly tense state.
From my own experience, especially after entering menopause, I noticed an increase in unexplained anxiety and emotional fluctuation.
When I incorporate hydrogen inhalation, I often feel a sense of emotional reset—a calm pause that allows me to breathe more deeply and return to balance.
This is not a medical claim, but rather a personal reflection on using hydrogen as part of a daily self-care routine.

Conclusion (13-1)
Stress and psychological discomfort are rarely caused by the mind alone.
They are closely linked to physical condition, nervous system balance, and accumulated fatigue.
Hydrogen does not eliminate stress, but it may help support a foundation where the body and mind can relax more naturally.
As a gentle, everyday option, it can be incorporated into daily life without pressure.
