🌿 Blog:Understanding Hydrogen Inhalation Machine Flow Rates: Questions We’re Receiving in NYC

Hello from New York! I’m Shico, owner and therapist at easeNY.

Recently, more clients have been finding us through Google searches for hydrogen inhalation and visiting specifically for hydrogen inhalation sessions.

In the past, many clients first discovered hydrogen when they came in for a massage. Now, we also welcome people who find easeNY while looking specifically for a place to experience hydrogen inhalation in New York City.

When booking, some ask questions such as, “What is the hydrogen flow rate?” Many have already done their own research and are familiar with device specifications.

Through these conversations, I have personally noticed a gradual increase in interest in hydrogen inhalation here in the United States.

Today, I’d like to explain “flow rate”—a term you may encounter when choosing a hydrogen inhalation service or researching a hydrogen inhalation machine for home use.

Hydrogen inhalation machine specifications often include numbers expressed as “mL/min,” or milliliters per minute. This describes the volume of gas delivered by the machine each minute. For example, 250 mL/min means that 250 milliliters of gas flows from the device per minute.

An important question is whether that number refers to hydrogen alone or to the total volume of a gas mixture containing hydrogen and oxygen or other gases.

Even when two devices advertise similar numbers, those figures may describe different things. Before comparing hydrogen inhalation machines, it is important to understand exactly what each specification represents.

“Flow rate” and “concentration” also mean different things.

Flow rate describes how much gas is delivered per minute. Concentration describes the proportion of that gas that is hydrogen.

The Molecular Hydrogen Institute (MHI), where I study molecular hydrogen, explains that flow rate, concentration, and inhalation duration should be understood separately and considered together. Flow rate alone does not establish how much hydrogen a person takes in or how effective a session will be.

You may be wondering, “Is a higher flow rate always better?”

Flow rate is useful information, but it does not determine a device’s overall quality or suitability on its own. MHI also notes that the optimal combination of concentration, flow rate, and inhalation duration has not yet been established. Rather than choosing by the largest number, it is important to consider the gas composition, delivery method, and operating conditions together.

When I select a hydrogen inhalation machine, I look beyond its flow rate. I also consider what research has examined the uptake of hydrogen into the body using that particular equipment.

The hydrogen inhalation machine we especially recommend has been studied through joint research with Keio University School of Medicine. Under the study conditions, it was shown to achieve what the manufacturer describes as a “blood hydrogen saturation” of 2.0%. The manufacturer presents the acquisition of this evidence on hydrogen’s behavior in the body as a world first.

This research is one of the reasons I chose this equipment and introduce it to our clients. When considering a hydrogen inhalation machine, I encourage you to look at research and measurements involving the device itself, alongside its flow-rate specifications.

If you are considering a hydrogen inhalation machine for home use, safety and everyday practicality are also important.

Hydrogen is a flammable gas, so the device’s safety design, operating environment, and manufacturer’s instructions require careful attention. MHI likewise emphasizes that discussions of concentration should include safety considerations and appropriate system design.

It is also worth considering how the equipment will fit into your daily life. Placement, operating noise, session limits, cleaning, consumables, and after-sales support are all useful points to review before purchasing.

Because I incorporate hydrogen into my own daily routine, I also want to share practical details that specifications alone cannot convey.

At easeNY, you can experience hydrogen inhalation using Japanese-made equipment. You are welcome to book hydrogen inhalation on its own or combine it with a massage.

As an authorized distributor of hydrogen equipment, we also offer purchase consultations for hydrogen inhalation machines and hydrogen water generators for home or professional use.

“What does this flow rate mean?” “What should I check before purchasing a machine for my home?” Please feel free to bring us your questions. We will discuss how you plan to use the equipment and explain its features.

Our salon is located in Midtown East, Manhattan, near Grand Central Terminal.

Whether you are looking to experience hydrogen inhalation in NYC or purchase Japanese-made hydrogen equipment in the United States, we would be happy to help you learn about the options and explore what fits your routine.
