🌸 Episode 66: Rock for the Last Weekend of August! ~A Day That Catches the Attention of Someone Who Loves Classic Western Rock~

Hello, it’s Sonata 🌿✨

August 29.

Before I knew it, we’ve reached the last weekend of August.

It’s still so hot that I sometimes wonder,

“Is summer really planning to end?”

😂☀️

And today in Fukuoka, there’s a major event that definitely caught my attention as someone who loves music.

THE GREATEST ROCK FUKUOKA 🎸✨

Six artists are gathering at Mizuho PayPay Dome Fukuoka:

JOURNEY, NIGHT RANGER, BAND-MAID, HOUND DOG, LOUDNESS, and RED WARRIORS.

The doors open at 10:00 a.m., the show starts at 11:30 a.m., and it is scheduled to continue until around 9:00–9:30 p.m.

That’s basically an entire day of rock music!

🎸 JOURNEY and NIGHT RANGER!

When it comes to Western music, I tend to prefer older songs rather than newer ones.

So when I saw the lineup, of course my eyes went straight to

“JOURNEY! NIGHT RANGER!”

😂

There are certain songs that have been around for years, yet the moment you hear them, you think,

“Oh, I know this song!”

And it’s not only Western music.

From Japan, there’s HOUND DOG, LOUDNESS, and RED WARRIORS.

And then there’s BAND-MAID from a newer generation.

I think it’s interesting to see bands that have been active for decades sharing the same stage with artists from a different generation.

That’s one of the fun things about music.

It can cross generations without asking anyone’s age.

As I wrote in a recent episode, old songs can suddenly bring back memories of the time when you used to listen to them.

The moment you hear,

“Wow, I haven’t heard this in years!”

you may suddenly remember a place, a person, or a whole period of your life.

That’s something music does better than almost anything else 🎵

🎵 Old Songs That Still Don’t Feel Old

The same is true for nostalgic Japanese songs and older J-pop.

A great song isn’t something I listen to simply because,

“It’s an old song.”

I listen because,

“I still like it now.”

That’s really all there is to it.

I listen to Ado.

I like anime songs.

I enjoy nostalgic Japanese hits and J-pop.

And when it comes to Western music, I tend to choose older songs.

When I write it all out like that, my playlist sounds pretty random 😂

But that’s fine with me.

Depending on the day,

Today it’s Ado.

Tomorrow it might be an anime song.

Another day, nostalgic J-pop.

And today…

maybe a little more rock than usual 🎸✨

That sounds good too.

🛁 After the Music, Back to My Usual Hydrogen Bath

Whether I spend the day at a live concert or simply listen to music at home,

once the evening comes, I return to my usual routine.

At my house, that means a hydrogen bath 🛁🌿

After listening to music all day, sometimes I want to sit in the bath with no music at all.

Just quiet.

But other times, I think,

“I want to hear that song one more time!”

and keep listening even in the bath 😂

And when I go to bed, I sometimes sleep while inhaling hydrogen.

For me, neither music nor hydrogen is something I think about in a complicated way.

I listen to songs I like.

I take a bath at home.

That bath happens to be a hydrogen bath.

And sometimes I inhale hydrogen while I sleep.

It’s simply part of my everyday life 🌿

🌻 One More Song Before Summer Ends

There are only a few days left in August.

Movies.

Games.

Anime.

Good food.

Music.

I feel like I’ve enjoyed many different things this summer 😊

And having such a large rock event in Fukuoka on the final weekend of August somehow feels like a perfect way to close out the season.

JOURNEY and NIGHT RANGER.

HOUND DOG and LOUDNESS.

RED WARRIORS and BAND-MAID.

Whether you’ve known these artists for years or are hearing them for the first time,

I think music reminds us that

age really doesn’t matter when it comes to enjoying a good song.

So…

What should I listen to today?

Maybe I’ll start with some classic Western rock, move into nostalgic Japanese songs, and somehow finish with Ado…

That sounds like another very strange playlist 😂🎵

But I guess that’s very me.

I’m going to enjoy the last weekend of August with some of my favorite music 🌿✨
