Hello, this is Sonata 🌿✨
We’re now in the middle of August, and Obon is just around the corner.
The intense heat continues this year, and it’s that time of year when we start keeping an eye on typhoon paths in the news 🌀
I’d also like to express my heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by the recent earthquake in Kumamoto.
I sincerely hope that everyone who is spending these anxious days in the sweltering heat will be able to return to a sense of security in their daily lives as soon as possible.
Scorching heat, typhoons, earthquakes.
At this time of year, every time I watch the news, I’m reminded once again of how important it is to be informed.
Things that might all look the same if you don’t know better—but when you look into them a little,
you might realize,
“Oh, so there’s a difference like that!”
That’s exactly what happened to me recently.
Recently, I had this realization regarding “how to incorporate hydrogen” 😊
When it comes to hydrogen,
there’s hydrogen inhalation, hydrogen water, and hydrogen baths.
I see these terms all the time.
But when I stop to think about it…
Inhaling. Drinking. Soaking.
Even though it’s all the same “hydrogen,” the methods of intake are completely different.
Until now, I’d vaguely lumped them all together under the umbrella term “hydrogen,” but when I line them up like this, it’s actually quite interesting ✨

🌿 “Inhaling” Hydrogen Inhalation
First up is hydrogen inhalation.
This is probably the easiest to visualize.
It’s a method of inhaling hydrogen gas as you breathe.
When you look at the devices,
you’ll see various numbers listed, such as
“Hydrogen concentration,”
“Generation rate,”
and “○ mL/min.”
Honestly, when I see a bunch of numbers like that,
I can’t help but think,
“Does a higher number mean it’s better?”
😂
But it seems that the way hydrogen is produced and the features of each device vary.
Even though they’re all called “hydrogen inhalation,” they aren’t all the same.
Once you start learning about these details, another question pops up.

💧 “Drinkable” Hydrogen Water
Next up is hydrogen water.
This method involves drinking water in which hydrogen is dissolved.
Just looking at the name “hydrogen water,” I used to imagine it as some kind of special water that was completely different from ordinary water.
But it becomes a little easier to understand when you think of it as water with hydrogen gas dissolved in it.
And since hydrogen is a gas,
“What happens after some time has passed since it was made?”
“What happens when you open the container?”
“Does the type of container matter?”
—more questions pop up.
For every thing I figure out, two more things I don’t understand come up.
Whenever I research hydrogen, I find myself in this endless cycle 😂
🛁 “Soaking” in a Hydrogen Bath
And then there’s the hydrogen bath.
This was the method that puzzled me the most when I first heard about it.
I get inhaling it.
I get drinking it, too.
But,
“What exactly is a hydrogen bath?”
Don’t you wonder?
Since you immerse your body in hydrogen-infused water, your skin comes into contact with hydrogen-infused water.
It’s a different route of entry than inhalation or drinking hydrogen water.
Even though it’s the same hydrogen,
through breathing.
Through drinking.
Through bathing.
When you think about it, it’s quite different, isn’t it?
🌿✨

✨ Which one is best? But before that…
When you see these three side by side like this,
you might wonder,
“So, which one is actually the best?”
I’m curious about that too 😊
But as I was researching this, I realized:
Before we get to that, isn’t it important to first understand that these are fundamentally different methods?
That’s what I thought.
Inhaling, drinking, soaking.
If the entry points are different, perhaps the criteria for comparison aren’t the same either.
There’s still so much I don’t know.
But, “Since I don’t know, I’ll look it up.”
And then,
“Oh, I see—that’s how it is!”
I learn something new.
That might be the part I enjoy most about writing this blog 🌿✨
Obon is coming up soon.
I’m sure many of you are planning to visit your hometowns or go on trips, but this year, in addition to the extreme heat, we also need to be mindful of typhoon activity.
Please stay safe, everyone, and have a wonderful Obon holiday 😊
In my next post, I’d like to continue unraveling the mysteries of hydrogen, one by one, starting with the moments when I thought, “What does this mean?” 🌿✨
