🌈Vol. 13: Mouth Trouble "Periodontal Disease": Calming Inflammation and Preventing Systemic Diseases

Hello, I am Jun, a sales employee who runs around health industry sales sites and am sensitive to the “mouth odor” of beloved dogs and cats! Thank you very much for the great response to the previous article on “disaster measures.” I really want to spread the word about the new form of preparation: “putting hydrogen water in your disaster prevention bag.”

Now, today’s theme is an unavoidable and very troublesome concern, “periodontal disease.” “Does my little one’s mouth smell a bit?” …That is not simply due to aging. In fact, mouth troubles are the beginning of a terrifying chain that erodes systemic health.

  1. The Reality That 80% of Those Over 3 Years Old Are in the “Pre-disease Group”

When greeting dogs and cats at sales destinations, I sometimes feel “Oh, that’s a rather wild smell” when I bring my face close (lol). In fact, it is said that about 80% of adult dogs and cats over 3 years old have some form of periodontal disease.

The oral environment of animals is characterized by having more alkaline than that of humans, so the speed at which plaque turns into tartar is extremely fast (about 3 days for dogs, about 25 days for humans!). If left alone, gums will swell in no time, pus will come out, and the bone supporting the teeth will dissolve. However, the true horror is not just “losing teeth.”

  1. From the Gums to the Whole Body. A “Terrifying Series” of Bacteria and Oxidation

Among researchers now, an alarm is being raised about “systemic diseases” caused by periodontal bacteria.

When gums become inflamed, the capillaries there become ragged, and periodontal bacteria enter the bloodstream directly. These bacteria travel through the whole body via the blood and settle in important organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver.

1.Effect on the heart: It causes endocarditis and valvular disease, leading to a decline in cardiac function.

2.   Effect on the kidneys: It damages the kidney filters (Glomeruli) and worsens the chronic kidney disease discussed in Vol. 3.

In other words, neglecting oral inflammation is the same as continuing to circulate “poison” throughout the entire body. At this time, a large amount of “bad reactive oxygen species” is generated throughout the body, exposing the entire system to oxidative damage.

  1. Why Hydrogen Becomes the “Mouth Firefighter”

This is where hydrogen comes in. Hydrogen has powerful “anti-inflammatory effects” and “cell-protective effects.”

At the site of periodontal disease (Gingiva), “cytokines,” substances that accelerate inflammation, are running rampant. Utilizing its characteristic as the smallest molecule in the universe, hydrogen permeates smoothly deep into periodontal pockets and even into the interior of inflamed cells.

By targeting bad reactive oxygen species and turning them into water, hydrogen turns off the inflammation switch and quickly calms the swelling and redness of the gums. Rather than “wiping out even good bacteria” like disinfectants do, the smart function of hydrogen is to restore the self-cleaning action of tissues by soothing the runaway immune system.

  1. The “Oral Hydrogen Revolution” Practiced by Salesman Jun

So, what specifically should be done? I will introduce the steps of “hydrogen oral care” that are showing results in the field.

1.Direct cleaning with hydrogen water:

Put fresh hydrogen water in a commercially available spray bottle and spray it into the mouth after meals. With just this, hydrogen is efficiently absorbed through the mucous membranes and improves blood flow in the gums.

2.Massage with hydrogen gel:

Recently, “hydrogen-generating gels” created under the supervision of researchers have appeared. Apply this to a finger or toothbrush and gently massage the gums. By keeping hydrogen in the mouth for a long time, intensive care is possible.

3.Change all drinking water to hydrogen water:

This is the most basic method, but the habit of resetting the inside of the mouth every time they drink water makes a big difference in the long run.

  1. The “Joy of Chewing” Extends Lifespan

As a salesman who has seen many senior dogs and cats, I am convinced that “pets who can eat firmly with their own teeth live longer.”

When the pain of periodontal disease is gone, appetite returns. When appetite returns, physical strength is built. When physical strength is built, the body becomes strong enough to resist illness.

Oral care with hydrogen is not just a measure against bad breath. It is a proper approach to support the “power to live” of your beloved partner and protect internal organs such as the heart and kidneys.

Jun’s Note

Protecting oral health is the “ultimate expression of love” that only an owner can do. Because hydrogen care does not use strong drugs, it can be done safely any number of times every day. Let’s make “Keeoping clean and healthy mouths!” a habit from today and enjoy delicious meals together no matter how old they get!

How was Vol. 13? I hope I have conveyed how oral health influences the future of the entire body. Now, next time (Vol. 14) is about the “chemical factory” that is most susceptible to damage after the mouth. “Protecting the Silent Organ: The Liver.” For owners who have started to worry about blood test values, this is a must-see!
