What I Couldn’t Fit Into the Column
In the first newspaper column, I discussed the basic functions and antioxidant effects of hydrogen.
However, due to space limitations, I couldn’t fully explain why hydrogen, as such a small molecule, can reach deep inside the body.
This post will expand on that topic and highlight hydrogen’s permeability.

Why Hydrogen Spreads Easily Throughout the Body
Hydrogen’s greatest characteristic is that it is extremely small in size.
Other antioxidants, such as vitamins or polyphenols, are relatively large molecules, which makes it harder for them to penetrate deep into blood vessels or cells.
Hydrogen, being the smallest of all molecules, can move smoothly throughout the body.
This allows it to pass through blood and cell membranes, making it easier to reach every corner of the body.

Special Attention: Its Action on the Brain
Among the organs of the human body, the brain is protected by the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which prevents most substances from entering.
Because of its tiny size, hydrogen is believed to be able to cross this barrier.
This has attracted attention for its potential to influence oxidative stress and inflammation within the brain, which may help support neurological health and mental balance.

Everyday Experiences
Although this might sound technical, in daily life the effect feels quite simple.
Personally, when I continue hydrogen inhalation, I often feel my mind become clearer, with better focus and concentration.
Some clients have also shared, “My work fatigue feels lighter,” or “I seem to sleep more deeply at night.”
These are personal impressions rather than medical claims, but knowing that hydrogen may reach the brain makes these experiences feel more convincing.

Conclusion
Hydrogen is unique because of its ability to easily pass through blood and cell membranes, thanks to its very small molecular size.
The possibility that it can even affect the brain—where many other substances cannot reach—is especially significant.
In this blog, I’ve supplemented the part that couldn’t be covered in the newspaper column: hydrogen’s permeability.
In future posts, I will shift to new themes and continue exploring the many fascinating aspects of hydrogen.
