Hello. This time, I would like to discuss how hydrogen may be helpful for the allergy symptoms that many people suffer from in the spring. Spring is a season where the amount of pollen scattered increases, and the effects of atmospheric particulate matter and temperature fluctuations can easily exacerbate allergic symptoms like sneezing, nasal congestion, and itchy eyes. Especially in New York, where pollen from trees like cedar (sugi) and maple is widespread, many people likely experience a worsening of symptoms during this time.
Allergic reactions are caused by the immune system overreacting to foreign substances from outside the body. The antioxidant action of hydrogen is said to have the potential to reduce oxidative stress in the body and suppress inflammation. Indeed, we sometimes receive feedback from people who incorporate hydrogen inhalation or hydrogen water, stating that “nasal congestion has eased” or “itchy eyes have calmed down.”
My relative in Fukuoka also suffered from allergic symptoms due to Yellow sand (Asian dust), but they mentioned that incorporating hydrogen inhalation mitigated their symptoms, and while they usually inhale for 1–2 hours, inhaling frequently during this season helps them feel more comfortable. Although the environment in Japan and New York differs, hydrogen may be useful as a care method for those suffering from allergic symptoms. Among my salon clients, some feel that breathing has become easier when they incorporate hydrogen during pollen season.
Methods for taking in hydrogen include hydrogen inhalation, drinking hydrogen water or hydrogen supplements, and taking a hydrogen bath. Hydrogen inhalation is a particularly easy method to incorporate when feeling discomfort from pollen or allergies. The hydrogen bath is also recommended for those suffering from skin issues due to allergies, as it may help soothe skin itching.
Spring is also the season for new beginnings. Why not incorporate hydrogen as part of your allergy measures to spend the season comfortably? If you are interested, please try utilizing hydrogen in your daily life.
