Hello. Having previously discussed hydrogen inhalation and hydrogen baths, this time I would like to delve into the world of hydrogen water. I recently came across an article about hydrogen water published in The New York Times. It seems that in the United States, just as in Japan, hydrogen water is becoming one of the most accessible means of incorporating hydrogen for health. However, because hydrogen is the smallest molecule, the main question is whether the hydrogen contained in the water is being properly ingested. During the hydrogen boom that occurred in Japan 10 years ago, some products were found to contain no hydrogen, leading to misunderstandings about hydrogen, yet the efficacy of molecular hydrogen itself is certain. Therefore, research has advanced on how to retain hydrogen in water, and currently, products like special packs capable of retaining 90% of the hydrogen for seven days have been developed.
When purchasing a hydrogen water generator, it is crucial to confirm its generation method and the concentration of hydrogen it produces. Hydrogen concentration is expressed in ppm (parts per million), where 1 ppm signifies that 1 milligram of hydrogen is contained in 1 liter of water. Currently, there are devices capable of generating ultra-high concentration hydrogen water, reaching levels of 10 ppm.
In 2007, a study on the medical effects of hydrogen by Professor Shigeo Ohta and colleagues at Nippon Medical School was published in Nature Medicine, and many subsequent studies have been conducted both domestically and internationally. The effects of hydrogen are also gaining attention in the fields of beauty and anti-aging, with research findings reported on collagen construction, the suppression of cellulite and melanin production, and whitening effects.
The latest research and information regarding hydrogen water are highly intriguing for those of us pursuing beauty and health. I feel that there is still significant value in continuing to explore just how much of an impact this small molecule can have on our lives.
