🌸 Episode 64: That Summer, Once Again — The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 4K and Enjoying the Present

Hello, it’s Sonata 🌿✨

We’re already in the second half of August.

And wow… it’s still hot! ☀️💦

After walking outside for even a little while, I find myself thinking,

“I just want to go somewhere cool…”

(笑)— or rather, seriously! 😂

On a hot summer day like this, there’s one place that sounds especially good to someone like me who loves movies and anime.

A cool, dark room with a huge screen where you can disappear into another world for a couple of hours…

The movie theater 🎬✨

And there’s one movie that has really caught my attention.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 4K.

Mamoru Hosoda’s animated film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, originally released in 2006, is back in theaters in 4K for its 20th anniversary.

It opened in Fukuoka on August 21.

A movie from 20 years ago returning to the big screen in the summer of 2026.

Just thinking about that makes me a little excited 😊

🎬 What Will a Movie from 20 Years Ago Feel Like Now?

When I think of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, I think of…

Summer.

Blue skies.

High school life.

And, of course, time-leaping.

Many of you have probably seen the movie before.

I love both movies and anime, so whenever an older title comes back to theaters like this, I immediately become curious.

Even when the movie itself hasn’t changed, the way we experience it can change as we get older.

Maybe there were scenes I once watched from the same perspective as the main character, but now I might find myself thinking,

“Ahhh… being young was nice!”

😂

And sometimes a scene that didn’t mean much to us years ago suddenly stays with us when we watch it again.

Movies are funny that way.

The movie stays the same.

We’re the ones who have changed.

⏰ If You Could Really Turn Back Time…

Thinking about The Girl Who Leapt Through Time naturally makes me wonder:

If you could go back in time, when would you return to?

What about you?

Your school days?

Childhood?

Or maybe…

Yesterday?

As for me…

I might use time travel just to eat something delicious all over again 😂🍴

Imagine having the amazing ability to leap through time and using it to say,

“Let’s go back to that restaurant one more time!”

That sounds exactly like something I would do(笑).

But in real life, we can’t turn back time.

In a game, we can reload from a save point 🎮.

We can replay our favorite movie scenes as many times as we want.

And we can restart an anime from Episode 1.

But our own days only happen once.

When I think about it that way,

the time we have right now to enjoy the things we love might actually be pretty precious.

…That got a little serious, didn’t it? 😊

🛁 After the Movie, Back to My Usual Evening

Once I step out of the movie theater, I’m back in the hot real world(笑).

Watch a movie.

Find something delicious to eat.

Head home.

And then, at my house…

it’s time for a hydrogen bath 🛁🌿

Relaxing in the bath while still enjoying the afterglow of a movie.

I think that’s a pretty good combination 😊

I’m not sitting there thinking about complicated hydrogen science every time I take a bath.

For me, a hydrogen bath is simply my regular bath at home.

Sometimes I’m thinking about the movie I just watched.

Sometimes I’m wondering,

“What should I watch next?”

Mostly, I’m just soaking and doing absolutely nothing.

And when I go to bed, I sometimes sleep while inhaling hydrogen as well 🌿

At the movie theater: time-leaping.

At home: a hydrogen bath.

And the next morning?

A completely normal new day begins(笑).

And that’s perfectly fine 😊

A movie from 20 years ago returns to the big screen.

And a story about traveling back in time is being watched by someone who is now 20 years older.

When I think of it that way, watching The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 4K this summer sounds even more interesting 🎬✨

It’s fun to imagine…

“What if I could go back in time?”

But because we can’t, maybe that’s all the more reason to enjoy the things we can do right now.

Watching movies.

Eating delicious food.

Listening to music.

Playing games.

Visiting hot springs.

I want to enjoy as many of the things I love as I can, right here in the present 😊

Now then…

If I go see the movie, what should I eat afterward?

In the end, that’s what I’m thinking about 😂🍴✨
