Hello, my name is Shizuka Moriwaki, or Shico. I’m the owner and a therapist at easeNY. For over 30 years, I’ve worked with my clients, focusing on care for both the body and mind.
I started this blog because I want to share the benefits of hydrogen with as many people as possible. It brought light and hope into my own life, and I’ve become deeply passionate about it. Rather than presenting myself as a professional, I want to be a storyteller. I’ll be sharing how I’ve integrated hydrogen into my daily life, along with stories from my clients and family.
I hope you’ll read these posts as personal experiences. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out.

The Basics of Hydrogen and Health
In the first column of the newspaper, I briefly introduced the basic functions of hydrogen. As the smallest and most abundant element in the universe, hydrogen is an essential part of our bodies.
Its most notable feature is its antioxidant effect. Hydrogen is believed to provide a wide range of health benefits by removing excess reactive oxygen species from the body, including suppressing inflammation, slowing down aging, and reducing the risk of lifestyle-related diseases.

What I Couldn’t Fit in the Column
The newspaper column had a limited word count, so I couldn’t fully explain why hydrogen is receiving so much attention. Here, I’d like to add a bit more.
Reactive oxygen species also play a role in protecting the body, but when they increase excessively, they can damage cells. Due to factors like stress, UV rays, air pollution, and diet, modern people are prone to an overabundance of “bad” reactive oxygen species.
Hydrogen is effective at reducing these harmful ones, and the fact that it has no side effects gives us peace of mind. Due to the nature of my work, I often feel tired and sluggish, but since I started incorporating hydrogen, I’ve noticed my recovery is faster. This is not based on scientific data but on my personal experience, and I’ve heard similar feedback from many of my clients.
In Summary
While being the simplest and smallest molecule, hydrogen holds great potential for addressing modern health challenges. The newspaper column only provided an overview, but in this blog, I’ll share “what I couldn’t write about” and include personal stories from my daily life.
Next time, I’ll talk in a bit more detail about the “good” and “bad” sides of reactive oxygen species and how hydrogen works. Stay tuned!
