Hello! I am Jun, delivering the passion of hydrogen from the sales front lines of the health industry again today. This is the 7th installment of our 50-part series. So far, I have talked about the mechanism of “why hydrogen is good” and use cases for each animal species. Consequently, this is the question I am always asked at sales sites: “So, Jun. Ultimately, what is the best way to give it?” Actually, this is a very important theme even among researchers. This time, I will thoroughly explain the science of the “routes” for delivering hydrogen to animals!
- The Optimal Solution for “Delivery”
Choosing Based on Purpose Methods for delivering hydrogen into the body can be broadly divided into four: “Drinking (Hydrogen Water),” “Inhaling (Hydrogen Gas),” “Injecting (IV Drip/Injection),” and “Soaking (Bathing).”
It is not that one of these is superior to the others; the correct approach is to use them differently depending on “what you are targeting.” As a salesman, I always advise my customers to choose based on “the current condition of that specific animal.”
- No. 1 for Ease: The Merits of Hydrogen Water (Drinking)
The most common method, which you can start even today, is drinking hydrogen water. *Characteristics: It passes through the digestive tract and circulates throughout the body while directly caring for oxidative stress in the stomach and intestines. *Suitable Cases: Daily health maintenance, anti-aging, and improvement of constipation or the intestinal environment. Researcher’s Perspective: Recent research has shown that drinking hydrogen water triggers the release of a substance called “ghrelin” from the brain, which promotes growth hormone secretion, and there is interesting data suggesting this helps with neuroprotection. For owners who want to “start easily,” I definitely recommend this.
- Overwhelming “Quantity” and “Speed”
Hydrogen Inhalation Currently, the inhalation of hydrogen gas is rapidly being introduced in veterinary hospitals and homes for elderly dogs and cats.
* Characteristics: Since it is taken directly into the blood through the capillaries of the lungs, it can rapidly increase blood concentration in a short period of time.
* Suitable Cases: Acute diseases, support for cardiopulmonary function, and recovery after intense exercise. The Reality of the Sales Field: For those who dislike having a cannula (tube) attached to their nose, there is also a method called a “Hydrogen Room” where the entire cage is filled with hydrogen gas. Since care can be provided just by staying still, it is an extremely gentle method even for elderly, bedridden animals.
- The Trump Card for Localized or Emergency Situations: IV Drips, Rinsing, and Bathing
In more specialized medical settings, saline solution infused with hydrogen is used.
* Hydrogen IV Drip: Performed under a veterinarian’s judgment in cases of dehydration or severe inflammation. It is the ultimate method for delivering it directly into the blood vessels.
* Hydrogen Bathing/Rinsing: As mentioned in Vol. 2 about atopy, an external approach is the strongest for skin troubles.
Application as Eye Drops: Hydrogen eye drops are garnering attention in research for suppressing the progression of cataracts.
- “Hybrid Utilization Techniques” Taught by Salesman Jun
When integrating researcher knowledge with field experience, “combination” is actually the strongest approach. For example, changing daily drinking water to “hydrogen water” and adding “hydrogen inhalation” 2–3 times a week during relaxation time. Or, caring for the skin with “hydrogen mist” after returning from a walk. By combining multiple routes like this, you can create a “hydrogen-soaked” environment that constantly maintains a high level of hydrogen concentration within the cells. This is the most effective strategy for slowing the speed of aging.
Jun’s Note
No matter how excellent the method, if the animal dislikes it and it becomes a source of stress, it defeats the purpose. The wonderful thing about hydrogen is that it is tasteless and odorless, allowing it to “support health before they even realize it.” Let’s find the easiest method that suits their personality together!
How was Vol. 7, the science of administration methods? I would be happy if you found a hint that makes you think, “I could probably keep this up even for my pet.” Well then, for the next installment (Vol. 8), we will cover “Safety,” which is likely what you are most concerned about. Why can we state for certain that hydrogen has “zero” side effects? As a salesman, I will dig deep into the evidence from toxicity tests that supports this.
